Focusing on ''gifts'' born in the forests of Yamanashi Prefecture in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic,
This is a complex art project that circulates between cities and water sources and poses questions about the modern gift economy.

The Yamanashi Art Project is a project by the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art that aims to create new interpretations of the Yamanashi region through the creation of works by artists together with local residents, and to create connections between the Prefectural Museum of Art and the region.
In 2022, Ayako Suwa, an artist with an atelier in Doshi Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, was selected and invited.

Talisman is a thing made of forest branches and leaves tied together with a ribbon,
which Suwa has been creating in her atelier since the second half of 2019 during the coronavirus pandemic.
Around that time, she sent the gift to her friends in the city who were forced to live inconvenient lives to prevent infection, hoping to bring some of the blessings of the forest to them. Eventually, it became a special presence in each family, and a cycle of gift giving occurred between the city and the forest, which is why Suwa calls it a talisman (meaning ''talisman'' or ''talisman'' in French and English). This is the starting point for various developments.

Using this experience as a starting point, Suwa used her Yamanashi Art Project as an opportunity to further pursue her questions through three forms of expression: exhibition, performance, and market. A groundbreaking work that uses multiple methods to convey the significance of work that protects forests from the two aspects of Yamanashi Prefecture, cities and forests, the relationship between water sources and cities, and the significance of the gift economy in modern times. It was a great exhibition.
