Rado is continuing its design collaboration with renowned designers from around the world, this time focusing on the contemporary True Thinline collection. As a key player on the international design stage, Rado continues to push the boundaries in pioneering design, working with designers to bring new ideas, fresh perspectives and individual style to Rado’s timepieces.
RADO designer collaboration "TRUE THINLINE TOGE" worked with Japanese artist Ayako Suwa to create a unique, limited edition version of our slimmest watch in full black high-tech ceramic. Featuring a distinctive thorn pattern on the dial and thorn shaped hands, it was inspired by the spines of a pufferfish FUGU and reflects Ayako’s vision as a designer.
The inspiration for this watch is FUGU (the puffer fish), which is extremely poisonous but popular in traditional gastronomic culture in Japan.
Ishikawa Prefecture, the birthplace of Ayako Suwa, has a traditional delicacy that ferments the highly poisonous Fugu Ovary with salt and rice bran pickles for a long period of time to detoxify it.
She says this special food culture has a strong influence on her own creations.

Three-dimensional scanning technology applies the textured shape of the actual puffer fish skin and thorns to the dial and hands.
In this way, she wanted to bring out the inner beauty of the person who wore the watch.
